The Japan Twenty20 Tri-Series saw Japan taking on Thailand and the Cook Islands. The tournament started on 7th May and ended on 11th May. Thailand lifted the series after defeating hosts Japan by 6 wickets.

The rules for the tournament were quite simple. It followed a typical double round-robin stage where each team faced each other twice.
