Jake Fraser-McGurk IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Jake Fraser-McGurk is set to become the second overseas player to miss the remainder of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season after Jamie Overton of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opted not to return. The restart of the IPL 2025 season will begin on Saturday, May 17, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will replace Fraser-McGurk, who opted not to return for personal reasons. The Capitals acquired the left-arm pacer for INR 6 crore. The 29-year-old is an experienced campaigner, as he has taken 61 wickets in 57 IPL matches. Speaking about the Aussie opener, he was bought by DC for INR 9 crores; however, he failed to replicate the success of last year, failing to even score a single fifty in the six games that he played this IPL 2025 season.

Jake Fraser-McGurk has informed the Capitals about not being willing to come back after BCCI suspended the IPL 2025 season due to escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. Apart from the youngster, the DC also seeks confirmation of their other foreign stars, like Mitchell Starc, Faf du Plessis, and Tristan Stubbs.

DC could also lose Tristan Stubbs and Mitchell Starc if they reach playoffs

In another major news, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has strictly said to the players featuring in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final to return on May 26. Stubbs, who has played a crucial role for DC as a finisher, could miss the team's playoff matches if DC is to make the top four, as he is included in South Africa's WTC squad. Pacer Starc is also likely not to return for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season.
